THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PASS THE BATON (C Maujean) and SIGRID SWING (*K A Brewer) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) BE REAL (M van Rensburg), SYMBOL OF LOVE (R Munger) and VILLA SEMAYA (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ELEGANT ICE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MS). b) In the pull-up area, Jockey K Matsunyane was dislodged from VILLA SEMAYA. He was attended to by the Course Medical staff which precluded him from weighing in. The Board, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. Jockey K Matsunyane was stood down by the Course Medical Officer as a precautionary measure. The Board has adjourned to review the incident that led to Jockey K Matsunyane being dislodged from VILLA SEMAYA in the pull-up area. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) REGAL DAUGHTER was ridden by Jockey R Danielson (declared 9 March 2023 at 08H22). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) VILLA SEMAYA raced with a tongue tie on (declared 8 March 2023 at 12H37). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SIGNORA BOMBA fatigued. b) VILLA SEMAYA head injury; cut into right front. c) WHITE HILLS abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
