THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLEAN LIVING (*K A Brewer) and MIA REGINA (*R A Venniker) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GRECIA (*M K Katjedi) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 100m, Apprentice S Sosibo was dislodged from ROCK ON CAPTAIN, which stumbled and fell for no apparent reason. In view of this incident, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Apprentice S Sosibo was attended to by the medical staff on course, transported to the medical centre for further assessment and treated for an injury to his right arm. The course manager, a member of the Stipendiary Board and the Veterinary Surgeon inspected this area and found nothing untoward with the track. When taking this incident into consideration as well as incident in Race 6 regarding ROSY LEMON, the Board was of the opinion that these were unfortunate, unrelated incidents. b) Jockey Y Ramzan, the rider of CONKER THE WORLD, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. c) Apprentice K A Brewer, the rider of CLEAN LIVING, accidentally dropped his crop at the 50m. d) MERCER GIRL (N Klink), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Paterson, acting on behalf of Trainer B H Stidolph, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CLEAN LIVING was ridden by Apprentice K A Brewer (declared 9 March 2023 at 13H27). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ROCK ON CAPTAIN raced without blinkers (declared 9 March 2023 at 08H53). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MIA REGINA coughing. b) ROCK ON CAPTAIN cut medial aspect right front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies.
