THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JET DYNASTY (J P van der Merwe) and PRIME EXAMPLE (R Munger) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, SON OF RAJ (K de Melo) jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls, making contact with the left-side front gate. b) BATTLEGROUND (C Zackey) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice R A Venniker was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that she failed to ride the horse TOP SAIL out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Apprentice R A Venniker signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1,000.00. d) SON OF RAJ (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W H Marwing advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) RIVER ROMEO was ridden by Jockey G Pieterse (declared 11 March 2023 at 08H25). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
