THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DONTSTOPMENOW (R Khathi) threw its head down as the start was effected, losing 1 length. b) TERRA SANTE (A Mgudlwa) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) When being encouraged forward in the early stages DONTSTOPMENOW (R Khathi) rolled in and brushed TERRA SANTE (A Mgudlwa). Thereafter DONTSTOPMENOW (R Khathi) over-raced for a short distance. b) VALERIAN NIGHT (T Godden) was hanging out from the 400m. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that DUKE OF AFRICA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of LA DREAMER (*S Hlengwa) (21.80 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse DONTSTOPMENOW more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey R Khathi struck the horse DONTSTOPMENOW, and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) GIMME GORGEOUS (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (DZ).
