THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEET SYMPHONY (T Godden) fly-jumped leaving the stalls bumping CALULO (*R A Venniker). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SABATINI (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 300m. b) Jockey N Patel (STING RAY) appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this Race. He explained that after having been slow away and thereafter obtaining cover in the early stages, this filly needed to be encouraged to hold her position in the race. Thereafter, he was mindful of allowing sufficient room on his inside for RUSSIAN DOLL (S Veale) which was improving. Mr Patel further explained that STING RAY is a large filly and he needed to balance her early in the straight before asking her for an effort. Further, he wanted to ensure that this filly sustained her effort to the finish. The Board noted Mr Patel's explanation and further advised him to be mindful of always taking all reasonable measures in races so as to obtain the best possible placing. c) AMARANDI (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
