THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOUBLING UP (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being dislodged in Race 3, Jockey C Bantam was examined by the course medical officer and passed fit to continue riding. b) DOUBLING UP (R Fourie) and CORONATION TIME (G van Niekerk) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. c) FELIDAVIAN (K Matsunyane) was hanging out on the bend, resulting in the bit being pulled through this gelding's mouth. Thereafter, FELIDAVIAN (K Matsunyane) proved difficult to assist and gave ground to the field from the 800m. d) Trainer B Crawford was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of the horse FELIDAVIAN. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer B Crawford was fined R250,00. e) EVERGLADES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
