THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ELUSIVE SWANN (J Greyling), CASTLE CORNER (*P Mxoli), CIAN THE CONQUERO (M van Rensburg) and LETSDOIT (*D B Geerthsen) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ELUSIVE SWANN (J Greyling) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) In the concluding stages, JOHNNY DOGS (M Thackeray), which had come to the end of its run, was directed inwards away from the heels of STORMY WINTER (G Lerena), which hung in from the 300m and was straightened. c) CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT (R Munger) was baulked for a clear run from the 300m to the 100m. d) FRONTLINE FIGHTER (D Schwarz) commenced to give ground to the field from the 250m. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with THE MAURITIAN in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey G Pieterse reported that he felt something amiss with EYJAFJALLAJOKULL in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) STORMY WINTER (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen advised (MS).
