THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUANDARY (P Strydom), THE CHOSEN ONE (N Klink) and BIG CITY GIRL (*M K Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey G Lerena reported that BLUE WATERS changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that BALLON D'OR did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G Pieterse reported that RAIN OR SHINE was blowing post race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey M Thackeray reported that THREE HEARTS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) MESCAL (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (LK).
