THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AFRICAN TORRENT (S Khumalo) jumped outwards and BILLY BOWLEGS (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey M van Rensburg felt something amiss with PARIS PIKE in running and eased this gelding out of the race at approximately the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) SON OF RAJ (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Warrick Marwing advised (MdP). c) BILLY BOWLEGS (G Lerena), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
