THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SASHAY AWAY (G Lerena) was kicked behind the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 300m, DIAMOND GIRL (*M K Katjedi) was carried out by AMARANDI (M Yeni) which was carried out by SWEET SYMPHONY (M V'Rensburg) which shifted out marginally. b) Jockey C Zackey (BEVIES DELIGHT) appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this race. Mr Zackey explained that he was instructed by Trainer P B Muscutt to take up a position at or near the rear of the field from a wide draw. He further explained that he was unable to secure clear running in the straight. After attempting a narrow run between AUNTY LIZZY (R Fourie) and WARSHIP (*R A Venniker) Jockey C Zackey was again baulked for a number of strides and only at the 50m did a clear run open where he switched to the inside of WARSHIP (*R A Venniker). Jockey C Zackey further stated that his mount had finished the race off strongly but in his opinion had suffered multiple unfortunate incidents during the race which led to him being baulked for a clear run for the majority of the home straight. Jockey C Zackey's explanation was corroborated by the video evidence and was noted. c) ANCIENT EPIC (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) advised (NS). d) SABATINI (T Godden), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M D Miller advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) DIAMOND GIRL : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe. SCRATCHED : a) SASHAY AWAY : Injured behind the starting stalls.
