THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ASPECT (C Orffer) was restless in the stalls, caught his hind leg on the running board, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay. b) LOGISTICAL (JP van der Merwe) was restless, continually reared in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. c) CAFE CULTURE (K de Melo) and DUKE OF ROCK (G van Niekerk) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 300m MIGHTY MAC (C Zackey) had to be steadied and directed inwards to continue its run when awkwardly placed on the inside of DUKE OF ROCK (G van Niekerk), which shifted in. Thereafter, leaving the 200m, RUBERTUS (D Ashby) raced tight for a short distance on the inside of DUKE OF ROCK (G van Niekerk), which continued to shift in. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. b) In view of the performance of DUKE OF ROCK (G van Niekerk) (Betting 5/2 ; Distance 4.65 lengths) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that LOGISTICAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ASPECT (C Orffer), Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. e) In view of the report from the starter regarding LOGISTICAL (JP van der Merwe), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 06/04/2023 to 12/04/2023 inclusive).
