THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CORONATION TIME (A Andrews) and AUGUSTA BLUE (A Domeyer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FELIDAVIAN (K Matsunyane) and DOUBLING UP (R Fourie) were hanging out in the straight. b) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FELIDAVIAN more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey K Matsunyane signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey K Matsunyane used his crop and the number of strikes (13). c) MACHETE MAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
