THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) NELSON BAY (C Zackey), THE BUSINESS (T Godden) and PROFESSOR LUPIN (R Fourie) were stubborn to load.
b) PROFESSOR LUPIN (R Fourie) fly-jumped leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) MYSTERY CACHE (A Arries) was hanging in from the 600m. Jockey A Arries appeared before the Board with regard to this report and was advised to take timeous corrective measures to ensure that he keeps his mounts on a straight course in races in future.
b) NELSON BAY (C Zackey) and PROFESSOR LUPIN (R Fourie) raced green.
c) When racing in close proximity HUNZA ROAD (*R A Venniker) was accidentally struck on the head by Jockey A Arries' crop (MYSTERY CACHE).
d) Jockey B Jacobson reported that ATLANTIC EAGLE changed stride in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) Trainer M L Roberts was questioned regarding the improved performance of HUNZA ROAD (*R A Venniker) as compared to this gelding's previous run at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the 12.03.2023. Trainer Roberts explained that he reverted to the 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville and in his opinion this gelding is better suited to this distance which attributed to the improvement shown today. His explanation was noted.
f) HUNZA ROAD (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (DZ).
