THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) YELLOWPORSCHEROAD (O Noach) reared, fell over, got caught under the stalls and proved difficult to extricate, was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn, causing a lengthy delay.
b) SONIC BURST (K Steyn) was injured in the stalls and withdrawn.
c) ELUSIVE TRADER (R Fourie), which was drawn next to YELLOWPORSCHEROAD (O Noach), was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. Thereafter, ELUSIVE TRADER (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d) PIROSHKA (A Domeyer) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) PIROSHKA (A Domeyer) was held up for a clear run between the 150m and the 50m.
b) An Inquiry will be held into Jockey G van Niekerk's (TRIVIAL MATTER) riding in the latter stages. This gelding was examined by the course veterinary surgeon at the request of the Stewards.
c) In view of the report from the starter regarding YELLOWPORSCHEROAD (O Noach), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 12/04/2023 to 18/04/2023 inclusive). YELLOWPORSCHEROAD may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
d) Trainer C Bass-Robinson was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that she failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that PIROSHKA had been gelded. Trainer C Bass-Robinson signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00.
e) BLUFF ON BLUFF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised. (TJ)
