THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LORD EMMANUEL (+S B Mthembu) was restless in the stalls and broke the front gate open on two occasions.
b) CROWN PRINCE (+T Matsoele) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
c) GREEN DYNAMITE (+T Ncume) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, GREEN DYNAMITE (+T Ncume) and NORTHERN KING (+I Lukhele) were carried out by CROWN PRINCE (+T Matsoele), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) DOUBLE JOY (+S Mosia) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c) SHACHATH (+S Mkhumbuzi) compounded from the 350m.
d) NORTHERN KING (+I Lukhele) hung in from the 200m.
e) CROWN PRINCE (+T Matsoele) hung out in the concluding stages.
f) Work Rider A Feni signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that, whilst riding the horse SAN MARZANO, he saluted in a celebratory gesture. The Board imposed a suspension from riding in one (1) Work rider race.
Date of Suspension: 11 May 2023.
g) SAN MARZANO (+A Feni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Trainer C J Lensley advised (MS).
When questioned regarding the improved performance of SAN MARZANO, Trainer C J Lensley could offer the Board no suitable explanation. Trainer C J Lensley was advised that this gelding's future performances will be monitored and his attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running.
h) PEMBROKE (+C Mabaya), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer W Masawi, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (MduP).
WORK RIDER CHANGES:

a) SUMMER LIGHTNING raced equipped with blinkers (declared 11 April 2023 at 08H32).
b) SAN MARZANO raced with a tongue tie on (declared 12 April 2023 at 09H53).

b) CAPTAIN TIK TOK coughing post race.
