THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAVA HOUSE (K Minnie) rushed the front gates in the starting stalls, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) DUTCHESSBURNEDETTE (S Khumalo) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a further delay. c) STATE OF MIND (JR Syster) was nervous in the stalls. d) SARAJEVO (*RA Venniker) was stubborn loading and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) STATE OF MIND (JR Syster) and KAVIAN'S CARA (R Munger) over raced in the early stages. b) Approaching the 900m TEARDROP (T Gould) raced onto and clipped the heels of KLASERIE (K Matsunyane). c) BADRAH (AUS) (X Ndlovu) was held up for a clear run between the 100m and the finish. d) In view of the report from the starter regarding DUTCHESSBURNEDETTE (S Khumalo), this mare's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 15/04/2023 to 21/04/2023 inclusive). DUTCHESSBURNEDETTE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on JAVA HOUSE, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. In this instance, the Stewards sanctioned Jockey JP van der Merwe as he would have been 2kgs over the carded weight. f) HILARITY (GB), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
