THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BECKONING BEAUTY (Y Ramzan) and WHATEVER NEXT (T Gould) jumped slow, losing one length. b) SAFE RETURN (S Khumalo) stumbled leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to Jockey JR Syster (BECKONING BEAUTY) being dislodged and injured in the parade ring, which resulted in a change of rider. b) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with PHEDRA. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on BECKONING BEAUTY, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00 (declared 10h14 on 20230411) d) CLIFF TOP, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
