THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HILDELITA (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and thereafter refused to gallop. b) FEELING FOXY (K Minnie) was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. c) SILVERY BLUE (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls. d) YAYA MARIA (C Maujean) and GRUE OF ICE (S Moodley) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards reviewed the start with regards to HILDELITA (S Khumalo) in stall gate 16 and established that the mare had jumped very awkwardly and thereafter, refused to gallop. The Stewards were satisfied that this was as a result of HILDELITA's (S Khumalo) own behaviour and took no further action. b) Apprentice RA Venniker (BURNING MOON) dropped her crop at the 300m. c) FLUID MOTION (K Matsunyane) was hanging out from the 300m. d) When questioned regarding the improved performance of AIMEE'S IDOL (S Khathi), Trainer AC Greeff told the Stewards that, in his opinion, this filly had benefited from the two months rest since her last race and was possibly better suited to races up the straight at this stage in her career. He further told the Stewards that this filly's merit rating had dropped, which may have accounted for the improved performance. Trainer AC Greeff's explanation was noted. e) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that CHELSEA GARDEN did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that SOUTH WESTER (IRE) changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) In view of the report from the starter regarding HILDELITA (S Khumalo), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 15/04/2023 to 21/04/2023 inclusive). HILDELITA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) AIMEE'S IDOL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
