THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOUND CHECK (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading and fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing one length. b) MONOSHADA (M Yeni) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey X Ndlovu's (SOUND CHECK) skull cap made heavy contact with the padded top bar of the starting stalls when SOUND CHECK fly-jumped leaving the stalls. Jockey Ndlovu was examined by the course medical doctor on his return to the weighing room and passed fit to continue riding. b) MEET AT THE GEORGE (S Khumalo), which took a number of awkward strides leaving the 400m, commenced to hang inwards and was not persevered with from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) At the 250m DELICASEA (T Gould) was momentarily held up when unable to secure a clear run between BAUBLES AND BEADS (JP van der Merwe) and PRINCESS DEB'S (L Mxothwa), which was hanging in throughout. d) Jockey M Yeni reported that after MONASHADA had stumbled leaving the starting stalls, this filly was unable to use her front running tactics, which is her normal pattern of racing. Thereafter, Jockey M Yeni reported that MONASHADA had shortened her stride in the latter stages and did not respond to his urgings. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) ANGEL DEB'S, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
