BISHOP'S BOUNTY jumped awkwardly. Jockey Fourie reported that BISHOP'S BOUNTY was not striding out. Jockey Cheyne, the rider of WHAT A WINNER, which was hanging out in the latter stages, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The Veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Veale was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he used his crop more than 12 times during the race whilst riding the horse CABO DA CRUZ (IRE). Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined. RUSSET AIR and READY STEADY GO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SERGEANT HARDY raced without surgical shoes and with alumites. BWANA raced with cheek pieces. BWANA raced without earmuffs. Vet: PACK LEADER, SERGEANT HARDY and BWANA - abnormal respiratory noise BISHOP'S BOUNTY - returned not striding out .WHAT A WINNER - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ROCKET COUNTDOWN - lame right fore. MACHIAVELLI - withdrawn at the start; not striding out behind.
