THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GILDED BUTTERFLY (K de Melo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) TERRA TIME (K Matsunyane), BOLD FORTUNE (D De Gouveia) and BLESS MY STARS (S Khumalo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) This race was run in steady rain. b) Shortly after the start, PINK TOURMALINE (L Mxothwa) and GILDED BUTTERFLY (K de Melo) came together and bumped. c) After racing prominently throughout, Jockey G Pieterse felt something amiss with BUREAU DES LEGENDE in running and eased this filly out of the race from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that SPRINKLES changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that TERRA TIME did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) GILDED BUTTERFLY (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TERRA TIME was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 29 April 2023 at 08H42).
