THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VICTOR RAIL (*S Hlengwa) was stubborn to load. Trainer A Wright was advised to re-school this gelding (SL). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 800m, SERVILIUS (S Veale) which tended to over-race in the early and middle stages, improved on the inside of BROSNAN (M V'Rensburg) which rolled out and shortly thereafter rolled in. Simultaneously, COTTON RON (J Gates), after having attempted to improve into restricted room on the inside of MASERATI ROAR (T Godden), was eased. As a result, MOON HARVEST (M Yeni) took an awkward stride when racing between COTTON RON (J Gates) and SERVILIUS (S Veale), and was eased. The Board was satisfied that blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider and therefore took no action. b) EL DRAQUE (K Matsunyane) and SERVILIUS (S Veale) were hanging in from the 300m. c) MASERATI ROAR (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
