THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly before entering the straight SHANTASTIC (K de Melo) was tightened and steadied. b) At the 400m, SAARTJIE (R Khathi) was eased when racing in restricted galloping room between HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk) and LADY OF POWER (P Strydom) which rolled out marginally and was immediately corrected. Thereafter SHANTASTIC (K de Melo) was tightened and eased between GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) which rolled in marginally and SAARTJIE (R Khathi) which was directed out, when awkwardly placed on the heels of HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk) which rolled in. c) Approaching the 200m, Jockey G van Niekerk when attempting to straighten HOLD MY HAND accidentally dropped his right-side rein which resulted in this filly shifting out and bumping GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer). Thereafter, between the 150m and the 100m GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) which was hanging in and shifted in, carried HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk), SAARTJIE (R Khathi) and LADY OF POWER (P Strydom) inwards. An Objection was lodged by the rider of the fourth placed horse GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) against the third placed horse HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk) on the grounds of interference approaching the 200m. In arriving at the decision to overrule the objection, the Objection Board considered that subsequent to the interference approaching the 200m, GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer) had headed HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk), and despite being carried in thereafter by GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer), HOLD MY HAND (G van Niekerk) improved to finish ahead of GOLDEN HOSTESS (A Domeyer). Jockey Domeyer's deposit was refunded. d) In view of the performance of LET IT SNOW (13.65 lengths, 100/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) PEACH DAIQUIRI (L Mxothwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
