THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHANGANI (K de Melo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ARUMUGAM (*K A Brewer) and TOP SAIL (*P Mxoli) were bumped inwards by SHANGANI (K de Melo), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) ELECTRIC SURGE (*M K Katjedi) hung in from the 400m. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with SHANGANI in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of NEBRAAS (P Strydom), (distance 19,50 lengths, betting 11/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) The Board has adjourned to review Jockey P Strydom's riding of NEBRAAS in the straight. f) Apprentice D B Geerthsen signed an admission of guilt and was fined R750 for a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that, whilst riding the horse FUTURE PEARL, he saluted in a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line. g) FUTURE PEARL (*D B Geerthsen), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) APACHE FIGHTER was ridden by Jockey M Yeni, who weighed out at 51,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight (declared 7 May 2023 at 08H04). b) FUTURE PEARL: Apprentice D B Geerthsen weighed out at 50,6kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight as declared. c) FLYING FIRST CLASS: Jockey K Matsunyane weighed out at 52.2 kg,1,5kg over the carded weight as declared. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ELECTRIC SURGE raced with club colours (black with a blue cap) Stipes permission.
