THE STARTER REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, INSATIABLE (D Schwarz) rushed the front gate, resulting in this filly being slow losing three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stipendiary Board called a race review into the start with regards to INSATIABLE in stall gate 10. The Board, after viewing the Patrol films from several angles, noted that this filly was restless, turned her head sideways, rushed the front gates and jumped awkwardly losing three lengths. In assessing this incident, the Board was of the opinion that the Handler allocated to this filly had not impeded her, the starting stalls were released timeously and deemed this incident to be horse error, therefore INSATIABLE was declared a runner. b) Jockey D Schwarz eased INSATIABLE out of the race from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A P Peter was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of INSATIABLE on return to stables. c) SAMOA (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Paterson, acting on behalf of Trainer B H Stidolph, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CLEAN LIVING was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 7 May 2023 at 15H29). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MANDALAY raced without a tongue tie (declared 7 May 2023 at 08H44). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) INSATIABLE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. Trainer A P Peter advised (MB). THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
