THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIGNIFIER (A Arries) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. b) SPIRIT'S UNITE (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m, while attempting a narrow run between SIGNIFIER (A Arries) and the inside running rail, SPIRIT'S UNITE (C Zackey) was tightened for galloping room and made contact with the hindquarters of a tiring SIGNIFIER (A Arries), which was then steadied and made contact with RENOWNED (C Bantam) on two occasions. b) Leaving the 200m OZARK (D Ashby) rolled in slightly and had to be steadied momentarily when close to the heels of ZOOMIE (L Mxothwa), which rolled out. c) DIAMOND ROCK (A Domeyer) was hanging in in the latter stages. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that LINDBERGH made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) ZOOMIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
