THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BALTIC SECRET (R Fourie) was fractious in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay.
b) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the finish DUMBLEDORE (C Orffer) had to be steadied when close to the heels of BALTIC SECRET (R Fourie), which raced green and rolled out.
b) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that JEWEL CAT, which was hanging out from the 200m, made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) The saddle on JEWEL CAT (K Matsunyane) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward.
d) In view of the report from the Starter, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine BALTIC SECRET (R Fourie).
e) In view of the report from the starter regarding BALTIC SECRET (R Fourie), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 11/05/2023 to 17/05/2023 inclusive). BALTIC SECRET may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
f) DISTANT WINTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
