THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) VERMACILLI (S Moodley) raced wide around the turn. Thereafter this filly was hanging in, in the straight and was steadied off the heels of I'VE GOT WINGS (M Yeni) in the concluding stages. b) LA PRESTISSIMO (*R A Venniker) and CAPTAIN MARVEL (J Gates) raced in close proximity between the 150m and 50m. An Objection was lodged by Jockey J Gates, the rider of the second placed horse (CAPTAIN MARVEL) against the winner LA PRESTISSIMO (*R A Venniker) on the grounds of his horse being struck by Apprentice R Venniker's crop (LA PRESTISSIMO) on several occasions over the final 150m. After considering the evidence this Objection was over-ruled and the Judge's result was allowed to stand. Furthermore, Jockey Gates's deposit was declared forfeit as this Objection, in the opinion of the Stewards, had no prospect of success. c) The Board has adjourned to review the penalty regarding Jockey J Gates' (CAPTAIN MARVEL) contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline M / crop use) in this race. d) LA PRESTISSIMO (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey M Yeni was the rider of I'VE GOT WINGS (advised 15.05.23/07h40). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
