THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCESS AZARIAH (*D B Geerthsen) reared in the stalls. b) MY SOUL MATE (G Lerena) and VILLA SEMAYA (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LEONESSA (D Schwarz) raced wide and without cover around the turn and into the straight. b) KEY ELEMENT (C Zackey) rolled out from the 300m to the 100m. c) In the concluding stages, SHILPA'S MOON (*S Sosibo) was carried out marginally by GODSPEED (*P Mxoli), which shifted in away from the crop and was straightened. d) Jockey P Strydom (BE REAL) did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that this filly took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer H E Adamson was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BE REAL on return to stables. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that EXQUISITE DAWN made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) The Board have adjourned to review Jockey G Lerena's riding of MY SOUL MATE, with particular reference to his crop use. g) KEY ELEMENT (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LEONESSA was ridden by Jockey D Schwarz (declared 15 May 2023 at 11H00). b) GODSPEED was ridden by Apprentice P Mxoli (declared 16 May 2023 at 13H28).
