THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COMMON GROUNDS (*R A Venniker) was stubborn to load. b) MORNING CHESS (S Moodley) lost 1 length. c) KING OF SEVILLE (A Arries) jumped awkwardly. Lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start BATTENBERG (M Yeni) and PREMIUM RUSH (M V'Rensburg) came together and made contact leaving the start. Thereafter at the 1300m, BATTENBERG (M Yeni) was eased momentarily off the heels of PREMIUM RUSH (M V'Rensburg) which over-raced in the early stages, proving difficult to assist. b) Shortly after the start ABERDEEN (G Lerena) was hampered on two occasions, losing position. c) GALAXY EXPLORER (A Mgudlwa) over-raced leaving the back straight. d) NINETY NINE HEROS (T Godden) was hanging out from the 300m. e) Jockeys M V'Rensburg (PREMIUM RUSH) and K de Melo (WINTER FROLIC) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these runners. f) FIBONACCI (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer V H Marshall advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) COMMON GROUNDS was ridden by Appentice R A Venniker (-1.5kgs) (advised 22.05.23/07h39). b) NELSON BAY was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo.
