THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHAT A TIGER (M Yeni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN (C Habib) and WAR EMPRESS (P Strydom) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SMELTING (*S Sosibo) raced wide and without cover around the turn and into the straight. b) WAR EMPRESS (P Strydom) hung in from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that this filly coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) PENDRAGON (G Lerena) hung and shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with CIVIL PRINCESS in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) PENDRAGON (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LAETITIA'S ANGEL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 22 May 2023 at 10H54).
