The start of this Race was delayed to allow the betting public to restructure their bets following the withdrawal of PHIL'S POWER.AMAZON KING lost 2 lengths. Leaving the 1200m ROQUEBRUNE had to steady momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of LADY OF LIBERTY, which jumped a wet patch, shifted in sharply and was immediately straightened. When questioned regarding his riding tactics on IRISH PRIDE, Jockey N Patel explained to the Board that his riding instructions were to race to the front, however, this gelding failed to muster early speed and was caught at the rear of the field, where he did not enjoy the kickback. Jockey Patel then elected to race wide around the turn and into the straight to avoid the kickback. Thereafter IRISH PRIDE sustained a strong finish to run second. GLACIER GIRL and IRISH PRIDE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ALL THE SEVENS - not striding out left front.
