THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODSPEED (*P Mxoli) was slow losing two lengths. b) SAKA GOLD (J P van der Merwe) and SCARLETT PIMPERNEL (M van Rensburg) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SAKA GOLD (J P van der Merwe) over-raced in the early stages. b) SAKA GOLD (J P van der Merwe) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with SAKA GOLD in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) GODSPEED (*P Mxoli) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. Thereafter, Apprentice P Mxoli reported that he felt something amiss with GODSPEED in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) SCARLETT PIMPERNEL (M van Rensburg) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with LIONS EYE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. f) FREE MOVEMENT (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
