THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ALINGALONGA (K Minnie), TOZZETTI (M Thackeray), KING'S CRUSADE (JP van der Merwe) and USHUAIA (T Gould) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SILVER TYCOON (D Ashby) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
b) BRENDEN JAMES (S Khathi) raced wide on the turn and into the straight.
c) Approaching the 200m KING'S CRUSADE went amiss and was immediately eased out of the race by Jockey JP van der Merwe. This gelding was attended to on course by the veterinary surgeon.
d) In view of the performance of EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR (S Khumalo), which pulled hard in the early stages and raced wide on the latter part of the turn, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Jockey K Minnie reported that ALINGALONGA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) SECRET IS OURS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (SP)

b) ALADO'S PRIDE raced without a compression mask and with blinkers (declared 08h47 on 20230602)

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. Trainer GD Smith will be advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
b) ALINGALONGA - examined post-race. Bilateral stirrup rub; not striding out right front
c) KING'S CRUSADE - humanely euthanized. A specimen was taken for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
d) TOZZETTI - post-race distress
