THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TWICE GOLDEN (*K J Lihaba) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start CAPTAIN CHORUS (C Zackey) and QUANTIFIER (A Mgudlwa) were carried out by CYBER TIME (C Habib) which jumped out.
b) Shortly after the start PROFESSOR SNAPE (S Veale) was bumped in by GO FLICHITY (T Godden) which jumped inwards.
c) Entering the first turn EXCEEDER (K de Melo) was carried out by INDIAN OCEAN (L Mxothwa) which failed to negotiate the turn and shifted out.
d) At the 450m EXCEEDER (K de Melo) was bumped out by INDIAN OCEAN (L Mxothwa) which shifted out to avoid running onto the heels of GO FLICHITY (T Godden). Thereafter at the 150m EXCEEDER (K de Melo) was bumped out by INDIAN OCEAN (L Mxothwa) which shifted out away from the crop.
e) TWICE GOLDEN (*K J Lihaba) was hanging out from the 300m.
f) At the 250m PROFESSOR SNAPE (S Veale) was carried in by QUANTIFIER (A Mgudlwa) which shifted in away from the crop. Thereafter, at the 150m, QUANTIFIER (A Mgudlwa) was carried out by PROFESSOR SNAPE (S Veale) which shifted out away from the crop and was straightened.
g) Shortly before the finish QUANTIFIER (A Mgudlwa) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between PROFESSOR SNAPE (S Veale) which rolled out and CAPTAIN CHORUS (C Zackey) which rolled in.
h) Apprentice K J Lihaba (TWICE GOLDEN) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride.
i) Jockey T Godden reported that GO FLICHITY took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
j) In view of the performance of PRIME EXAMPLE (R Danielson) (9.85 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
k) ROCKIE REEF (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer V Beets acting on behalf of Trainer P B Muscutt advised (HM).
l) ARVERNI KING (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer V Beets acting on behalf of Trainer P B Muscutt advised (NS).
