THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRENCH DUCHESS (S Khumalo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) VIVACIOUS VICKY (K de Melo) jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) KING RAHUL (M Yeni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) ATO POTATO (*D B Geerthsen) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DREAM STATE (Wes Marwing) proved reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led. Trainer P F Matchett was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) As the start was effected, FRENCH DUCHESS (S Khumalo) was severely unbalanced when bumped by VIVACIOUS VICKY (K de Melo), which jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) When questioned regarding KING RAHUL'S poor performance on the 1 June 2023, Stable Employee F Naude explained to the Board that in a stronger field, they had attempted to race KING RAHUL with cover and as a consequence, this gelding had struggled to settle in running and tired badly. In today's race they had decided to allow this gelding to use his action and race more freely which, in his opinion, had accounted for the improved performance. d) STORMY CHOICE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS.
