THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VALYRIAN SWORD (R Khathi) and GREENSIDE (S Moodley) were stubborn to load.
b) POTENT CAPTAIN (K de Melo) was restless in the stalls.
c) OBADIAH (M Yeni), GOOSEBUMPS (T Godden) and BAKER STREET (A Arries) lost 1 length.
d) KINTAMANI (W Marwing), BASIE RAAKVAT (D Schwarz) and POTENT CAPTAIN (K de Melo) lost 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) POTENT CAPTAIN (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 400m.
b) At the 400m BOMBER STREAM (K Matsunyane) shifted in away from LIGHTNING JIMMY (C F Dicken) which rolled in.
c) Approaching the 300m GOOSEBUMPS (T Godden) which raced in restricted room between TICKALOX (*S Hlengwa) and HONSHU (S Veale) which was carried in by BOMBER STREAM (K Matsunyane) which shifted in, was eased momentarily. Thereafter HONSHU (S Veale) was bumped by BOMBER STREAM (K Matsunyane) which continued to shift in.
Jockey K Matsunyane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of BOMBER STREAM, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HONSHU (S Veale) at approximately the 200m and GOOSEBUMPS (T Godden) at approximately the 300m. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension of riding in races for a period of seven days was imposed (Dates to be advised).
d) HONSHU (S Veale) raced green.
e) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with OBADIAH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) HONSHU (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie advised (NS).
