THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPRING OF ELIXIR (C Habib) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, the saddle on LORNA LILLY (*M K Katjedi) slipped forward (as confirmed by video evidence) placing Apprentice M K Katjedi at a severe disadvantage, resulting in LORNA LILLY being directed away from runners and racing wide around the turn and into the straight Thereafter, at approximately the 450m, the lead bag was dislodged. Apprentice M K Katjedi's equipment was checked by a member of the Stipendiary Board and found to be in good working order. The Clerk of Scales lodged an objection against LORNA LILLY in terms of Rule 68.2.11 in that Apprentice M K Katjedi weighed in 7kg under the weight at which he was declared out at. After giving regard to the evidence, the objection was upheld and in terms of Rule 69.7, LORNA LILLY was disqualified. b) SPRING IN HEAVEN (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) SPRING IN HEAVEN (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer W Masawi, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LORNA LILLY was ridden by Apprentice M K Katjedi (declared 11 June 2023 at 15H15).
