THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HOMELY GIRL (*K A Brewer) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) ASTRIX (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (C Zackey) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 800m, DANILO DANILOVITCH (*P Mxoli), which commenced to over-race, was steadied and directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of VANDERBILT (M Thackeray). b) Approaching the 200m, BARTHOLDI (S Khumalo) was momentarily inconvenienced between the outside running rail and DANILO DANILOVITCH (*P Mxoli), which hung out from the 300m. c) Jockey M Thackeray reported that VANDERBILT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Apprentice K A Brewer reported that HOMELY GIRL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning HOMELY GIRL, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised. f) EYE OF THE PROPHET (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Jena, acting on behalf of Trainer P F Matchett, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BARTHOLDI was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo (declared 14 June 2023 at 14H39). b) OUTOFTHEDARKNESS was ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 18 June 2023 at 08H46). c) TEAM GOLD: Jockey J P van der Merwe weighed out at 52,9kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
