THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) STAY FOCUSED (*M K Katjedi) was squeezed shortly after the start by ONE RELIGION (G Lerena), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and GODSPEED (D Schwarz), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. .
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) ROSE GREENHOW (D De Gouveia) shifted in away from the crop between the 300m and 200m.
b) SIGNORA BOMBA (*D B Geerthsen) hung in from the 500m. Thereafter, Apprentice D B Geerthsen reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c) In view of the performance of ONE RELIGION (G Lerena), (distance 5,00 lengths, betting 18/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d) GODSPEED (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (LK).
When questioned regarding the improved performance of GODSPEED, Trainer F Bronkhorst reported that following this filly's poor run on 1 June 2023, blood samples were taken for analysis, which revealed that she was harbouring a virus. GODSPEED was subsequently treated. Trainer F Bronkhorst was charged with a contravention Rule 70.1.1 in that he failed to report to the relevant licensed veterinary surgeon or Stipendiary Board anything which might have affected the performance of GODSPEED on 1 June 2023. Trainer F Bronkhorst signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed.
