THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, BUTTERNUTENROOIWYN (G Lerena) jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with the left-side front gate. Thereafter, this filly commenced to over-race into and around the turn. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that FAIRY CIRCLE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In the concluding stages, LITTLE MIZ SWAGGER (*K A Brewer), which hung in from the 200m, was bumped out by LADY ELLIOT (M Yeni), which shifted out sharply away from the crop and was straightened. A Stipendiary Steward called a race review into this incident which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Apprentice K A Brewer, in the company of the National Riding Master, on behalf of LITTLE MIZ SWAGGER, placed second, against LADY ELLIOT (M Yeni), placed first, on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after giving due consideration to the evidence put forward by the connections, the distance of 0,75 lengths between the two horses involved and the proximity of the incident to the finish, determined that LITTLE MIZ SWAGGER would not have finished ahead of LADY ELLIOT had this incident not occurred, overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Apprentice K A Brewer's deposit was refunded. d) LADY ELLIOT (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner, was advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SHINY SILVA raced without cheekpieces (declared 16 June 2023 at 10H11). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FAIRY CIRCLE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) LITTLE MIZ SWAGGER brush wound left hind. SCRATCHED: a) COUNTESS DANZA change of venue. Advised 21 June 2023 at 14H16. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
