THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) FIRST ORIGIN (*KA Brewer) and VISION OF WONDER (L Mxothwa) were reluctant to load.
b) THE WINTER LAKE (M Yeni) was stubborn loading and had to be hooded, causing a delay.
c) EMPIRE BLUE (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls.
d) SEETHEBADGE (D Schwarz) fly-jumped leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) After being slow to begin SEETHEBADGE (D Schwarz) failed to muster speed in the early and middle stages and finished tailed off. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
b) Jockey K Minnie reported that EMPIRE BLUE, which was hanging in in the straight, made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c) In view of the report from the starter regarding THE WINTER LAKE (M Yeni), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 01/07/2023 to 07/07/2023, both dates inclusive). THE WINTER LAKE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
d) FAIRY KNIGHT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana, acting on behalf of Trainer AC Greeff, was advised. (LM)
