THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FUR BABY (D Schwarz), MISS SHAIVI (D De Gouveia) and LADY ZULTANITE (C Maujean) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1200m, TREATY (J R Syster) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between MABONENG (G Lerena) and SPEECHMAKER (M van Rensburg), which rolled out on the turn. This resulted in RISKY BUSINESS (C Habib) being steadied outwards, carrying FUR BABY (D Schwarz) out. As a consequence of this, FUR BABY (D Schwarz) raced wide around the turn. b) At approximately the 300m, RISKY BUSINESS (C Habib), which had come under pressure at the 400m, was steadied to avoid the heels of FUR BABY (D Schwarz), which commenced to hang in. c) In view of the performance of FUR BABY (D Schwarz), (distance 12,50 lengths, betting 15/4), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) MABONENG (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Habib, acting on behalf of Trainer S G Tarry, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CHATEAU FUTURA was ridden by Apprentice P Mxoli (declared 2 July 2023 at 09H38).
