THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BELLE'S FIRST WAVE (M Thackeray) jumped inwards and thereafter was slow into stride. b) NATASHA ROSTOV (Y Ramzan) jumped with its head up and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The bridle on HAPPINESS IS (J Gates) had to be re-fitted at the start, causing a delay. b) In view of the performance of NATASHA ROSTOV (Y Ramzan), which trailed the field throughout, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) NATASHA ROSTOV (Y Ramzan) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 120 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) d) GOLD FOR AFRICA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
