THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VISTA NOVA (M Thackeray) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. b) LIFE ON MARS (Y Ramzan) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) EUROPEAN SUMMER (C Maujean) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight. b) At the 100m GALLIC TRIBE (J Gates) was directed to the inside of TEATRO (R Fourie) to continue its run. c) In the concluding stages a tiring VICTORY OF DUBAI (G Pieterse) was steadied when close to the heels of LIGHT THAT LOOSE (M van Rensburg). d) Jockey M Thackeray reported that VISTA NOVA did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) LIGHT THAT LOOSE (M van Rensburg) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) f) SLIM JANNIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
