THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALL THE WIND (J R Syster) and GILDA GRAY (S Khumalo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SUMMERLAND (*D B Geerthsen), which raced clear and in advance of the field, tired badly from the 500m. b) Leaving the 200m, CALL THE WIND (J R Syster) and PASCHALS SAMORE (G Lerena), which had come to the end of their runs, came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between GILDA GRAY (S Khumalo), which hung out from the 400m, and BEGUILING (D Schwarz), which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected. The Board, in reviewing this, was of the opinion that this was a racing incident, and that blame could not be apportioned to an individual rider and therefore took no further action. c) QUIET REBELLION (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BEGUILING: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 55,9kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. b) GILDA GRAY: Jockey S Khumalo weighed out at 54,6kg, 1kg over the carded weight of which 0,5kg was declared. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SUMMERLAND raced equipped with a compression mask and with blinkers (declared 3 July 2023 at 08H53). b) CALL THE WIND raced without blinkers (declared 3 July 2023 at 14H55).
