THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PARIS LASS (S Khumalo) was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. b) RAINBOW THIEF (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length. c) I LIKE IT HOT (M Thackeray) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 700m BAUBLES AND BEADS (JP van der Merwe), which pulled hard in the early and middle stages, rolled out and had to be checked away from the heels of THREE ROCKS (R Fourie). b) Jockey F Herholdt reported that DELICASEA, which raced wide on the turn and into the straight, did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) Leaving the 200m Jockey M Thackeray (I LIKE IT HOT) dropped his right-side rein for a number of strides, which he had difficulty gathering. d) THREE ROCKS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
