THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KYOTO (*R A Venniker) was stubborn to load. Trainer M L Roberts will be advised to re-school this filly. b) RED SEA (D Daniels), ISORENDER (K de Melo) and KYOTO (*R A Venniker) lost 1 length. c) SILVER SAVAGE (C F Dicken) lost 3 lengths. Trainer M Dixon was advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) NINETY NINE HEROS (T Godden) was hanging out from the 500m. b) KUMEMORI (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 400m. c) GORGEOUS GUY (S Khumalo) and THISISWHATITMEANS (R Fourie) were hanging in from the 400m and shifted in independently between the 300m and the 150m. d) In view of the performance of KYOTO (*R A Venniker) (28.65 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey D Daniels reported that he felt something amiss with RED SEA in the running and as a result did not persevere with his ride from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning RED SEA, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Suspension dates (10.07.23 - 07.09.23 bdi). Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen was advised. g) Trainer M Dixon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that SILVER SAVAGE is a gelding. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R250 was imposed. h) MASTER JOSH (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) EXCALIBUR CALLS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 07.07.23/13h01). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) ISORENDER is a gelding : Gelded 15.12.2022 (administrative error). b) SILVER SAVAGE is a gelding : Gelded 22.11.2022 (advised prior to racing). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) KYOTO : Nothing obvious detected. b) RED SEA : Bilateral epistaxis confirmed. 60 days suspension. SCRATCHINGS : a) GENERAL BYNG : Elevated temperature (Trainer - 06.07.23/09h11). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None
