THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GIANTS CASTLE (C Maujean) refused to load.
b) JOHNNY THE THIEF (M V'Rensburg) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after entering the final straight ABERDEEN (D Daniels), PLAYER X (*M K Katjedi), JOHNNY THE THIEF (M V'Rensburg) and VENERABLE (K Matsunyane) were carried out by SAFE SPACE (A Mgudlwa), which rolled out.
b) Between the 250m and the 150m PLAYER X (*M K Katjedi) was carried in on two occasions by VENERABLE (K Matsunyane), which rolled in. Thereafter, VENERABLE (K Matsunyane) was carried out by SAFE SPACE (A Mgudlwa) which shifted out sharply away from the crop and was immediately corrected.
c) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with RED PIANO in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey D Daniels reported that ABERDEEN did not act in the prevailing good to soft track condition.
e) In view of the performances of DANCE TO THE MUSIC (S Veale) (17.30 lengths, 66/1 in the betting) and TORRONE (13.30 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to GIANTS CASTLE (C Maujean), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 30 days and until such time as it proves tractable on a raceday with a companion. Suspension dates: 10.07.23 to the 08.08.23. GIANTS CASTLE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer N Kotzen was advised (SN).
g) SAFE SPACE (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen advised (NS).

b) Jockey K de Melo (TORRONE) weighed out at 55.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight.
