THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MAMBO'S CALL (D Schwarz) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) COPPER JOHN (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
c) NIGHT VIBE (M Thackeray) and FUSHIMI INARI (G Lerena) were slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, NO PLACE LIKE HOME (J P van der Merwe) was bumped by COPPER JOHN (C Habib), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) COPPER JOHN (C Habib) over-raced in the early and middle stages.
c) Leaving the 200m, NO PLACE LIKE HOME (J P van der Merwe) was brushed out marginally by FUSHIMI INARI (G Lerena), which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. Thereafter, at approximately the 150m, MAMBO'S CALL (D Schwarz) was brushed in by FUSHIMI INARI (G Lerena), which shifted in away from the crop. An objection was lodged by Jockey D Schwarz, rider of the third-placed horse, MAMBO'S CALL, against the second-placed horse, FUSHIMI INARI (G Lerena), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Board, after hearing evidence from all relevant parties, was of the opinion that the result had not been affected by this incident and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judge's result to stand. Jockey D Schwarz's deposit was refunded.
d) HOTARUBI (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
